William J. Salyers, Jr., MD, MPH, FACP

Dr. Salyers grew up in Ellsworth, KS and attended Sterling College in Sterling, KS where he obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. He began his medical training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and completed his clinical training years in Wichita, KS, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2003. Following his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita in 2006, he joined the faculty with KUSM-W Internal Medicine Department as an Assistant Professor.

Prior to starting his fellowship training in Gastroenterology, Dr. Salyers completed a Master of Public Health degree through the University of Kansas School of Medicine and also dedicated additional time working in hospice care prior to obtaining board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Salyers completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL in 2011 and returned to the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita where he is currently Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Nathan Tofteland, MD

Program Director, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program

Dr. Tofteland moved from Montana to Hillsboro, KS to attend Tabor College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Biblical/Religious Studies.  In addition to his degrees in the humanities, he completed prerequisite courses for premedical training.  He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2006 from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, spending the final two years of medical school on the campus of the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita.  Dr. Tofteland subsequently completed dual-residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, graduating in 2010.  Following residency graduation, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and served as the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program.

Dr. Tofteland completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Kansas City campus in 2014.  Following fellowship graduation, he returned to the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita, where he currently serves as the Program Director of the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program and a staff Physician in gastroenterology.

Julie Slade, PA-C

Julie Slade, PA-C

Julie Slade, PA-C is a board certified Physician Assistant. She received her PA certification and earned a Bachelor’s of Health Science Degree, graduating Cum Laude from Wichita State University in 1986. She has 28 years of clinical experience specializing in Gastroenterology for the last 1 years. She joined Dr. Salyers at KU-Wichita Gastroenterology in January of 2012.

Julie is the coordinator of The Liver Care Clinic at KU -Wichita Gastroenterology. She is a guest lecturer at the WSU PA Program lecturing students on topics in Gastroenterology and liver disease. Julie is a member of the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Gastroenterology Academy of Physician Assistants.


Andrew Osbeck, PA-C, MPA

 Andrew Osbeck, PA-C, MPA

Andrew Osbeck, PA-C is a board certified Physician Assistant.  He earned his Master of Physician Assistant degree from Wichita State University in 2006.  He has 10 years of clinical Gastroenterology experience and joined Dr. Salyers at KU-Wichita Gastroenterology in February of 2013. 

Andrew has an emphasis Inflammatory Bowel Disease, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.  Andrew also offers non-surgical hemorrhoid banding as an option for treatment of internal hemorrhoids.  Andrew is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and The American College of Gastroenterology.   

  Cynthia Jantzen, APRN

 

Cynthia Jantzen, APRN-C is a board certified Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel College and her Masters in Nursing from Wichita State University.  She has 18 years clinical experience as a nurse practitioner, specializing in gastroenterology the past 1.5 years.

Cindy is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology.
