Dr. Tofteland moved from Montana to Hillsboro, KS to attend Tabor College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Biblical/Religious Studies. In addition to his degrees in the humanities, he completed prerequisite courses for premedical training. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2006 from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, spending the final two years of medical school on the campus of the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita. Dr. Tofteland subsequently completed dual-residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, graduating in 2010. Following residency graduation, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and served as the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program.
Dr. Tofteland completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Kansas City campus in 2014. Following fellowship graduation, he returned to the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita, where he currently serves as the Program Director of Gastroenterology Fellowship Program and a staff Physician in gastroenterology.
